Implant

Implants are a fantastic option to restore gap (s) in the mouth. Very few people are unsuitable for them, and a consultation with our very own Implant Surgeon can quickly establish whether this is the right path for you.
Implants are highly developed and used all over the world, tried and tested a million times over-we know they are predictable and they work!

What are implants?

A small titanium post is planted in the jaw bone to support a replacement tooth. They are artificial high-tech tooth roots that become part of the jaw. They are as firm as if they were part of you, and provide a stable base for single-tooth crowns, larger bridges or dentures.
They have a completely natural feel and do not damage adjacent teeth.
They are permanent, bite-resistant and as individual as you are.
If you decide to go ahead, this is what will happen.
Implant treatment normally has two stages. First, the implant is placed in the jaw by our Specialist Maxillofacial Surgeon, Mr John Tighe. Mr Tighe will make a space in the jaw under a local anaesthetic. You will feel the vibrations but no pain.
The implant is screwed or pushed in and the gum is stitched so that it heals over the implant
Under the gum the bone then grows round the implant to hold it firm. This takes a minimum of 8-12 weeks.
Once the jaw has healed, impressions (moulds) are taken and replacement teeth are attached to the implant. In some situations it is possible for temporary teeth to be attached to an implant at the time of fitting.
